Rowan: Were you seen?

Rey: No, they’ve all gone to sleep. I hate all of this sneaking around. I wish we could just be open about our love.

Rowan: So do I, but you’re a defender, sworn to that service for the rest of your life. If they found out about us, they would have both of our heads. I think Aiko already suspects, if her greeting today means anything.

Rey: Yes, she confronted me afterwards. But If I come back…

Rowan: When you come back.

Rey: when I come back, I think we need to see about changing a few of those laws.

Rowan: You will be the first Ascender, I think that might give you a few strings to pull.

Rey: I’ve devoted my life to being a defender, and I’m proud of that, but my heart’s desire is to also devote my life to you, and when I come back I plan to make that know to the queen.

Scene: As they depart, they touch hands as they turn away.
